Frequently Asked Questions

Home : Product Information : Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between cohesive and adhesive bandages?

A truly cohesive bandage will only stick to itself and not to a surface. An adhesive bandage will stick to a surface and often leaves a residue on the surface when removed.

2. What is the difference between PowerFlex and Pressure Sensitive Elastic Tear Tape?

PowerFlex is cohesive and Pressure Sensitive Elastic Tear Tape is adhesive. Both are similar in strength but Elastic tear tape is most often applied over Pre-wrap. Pre-wrap will slip when it comes in contact with water or sweat. Any taping system applied over Pre-wrap will breakdown when an athlete begins to sweat. PowerFlex is applied directly to the skin without any Pre-wrap eliminating the risk of slippage. In addition, PowerFlex is priced significantly less than Pressure Sensitive Elastic Tear Tape.

3. What is the difference between traditional taping with Spray Adhesive and Pre-wrap versus PowerFlex?

With the traditional taping system sweat gets locked between Pre-wrap and the skin forming a layer of perspiration, this causes a tape job to slip and breakdown. PowerFlex replaces Pre-wrap as the first layer of taping an ankle and eliminating the slipping problem. With PowerFlex there is no need for spray adhesives or Pre-wrap. Simply apply PowerFlex directly to the skin and trainers tape over the top of it. The PowerFlex Taping System delivers ultimate protection that will not slip from sweat and offers significantly more protection with its superior strength.

4. How do I encourage athletes to tape for preventing injuries?

The compression in PowerFlex holds the tendons and ligaments in place giving the athlete a heightened awareness of the ball on their foot. By offering a product that enhances performance while also protecting against injuries, athletes are more likely to accept the philosophy of preventative taping/strapping. Since PowerFlex does not restrict mobility and is comfortable, once the athlete uses PowerFlex for the first time, they will use it again.
